Yugioh! 17/8/14 AND 23/8/14

We will be playing Yugioh! tomorrow at 4.15pm onwards in Costa by BHS and again the following Saturday same place at 4.30pm.

I must stress that we only have a few simple rules and that'd when coming to costa everyone must buy something as it's still a business. We are currently in talks with Swindon Yugioh Players about finding somewhere bigger to house our events as they seem to be getting bigger each week and more then twice a month.

It's great having more players and if you want to meet some new people and trade some cards, come along.

Cosplay Bowling

Few pics of the cosplay bowling we had a few nights back!

Coffee Meet 25/8/14

The next coffee meet will be held in Costa by BHS at 5.30pm. Normal rules, everyone is to buy something, keep noise down, behave, don't bring in outside food/drink.

The anime/manga we have picked this month is Loveless

Loveless (Japanese: ラブレス Hepburn: Raburesu?) is an ongoing fantasy manga by Yun Kōga. It is serialized in the Japanese magazine Monthly Comic Zero Sum by Ichijinsha and collected in twelve tankōbon as of December 2013. Kōga plans to end the manga at fifteen volumes.[1]

A 12-episode anime television series adaptation was made by J.C. Staff, broadcast in a post-midnight slot on TV Asahi and ABC from April 2005 to June 2005. The anime series was licensed and released in the US by Media Blasters in a set of 3 DVDs in early 2006.

The most immediately noticeable aspect of the story is that many characters are kemonomimi—cat-like features (in this case, ears and tails) are universal from birth, so there are as many catboys, including the protagonist, as there are catgirls. People in the Loveless universe lose their animal features when they lose their virginity. Those who no longer have animal features are differentiated by society as "adults".

In his first day at his new school, a then twelve-year-old Ritsuka Aoyagi meets a mysterious twenty-year-old male named Soubi Agatsuma. Soubi claims to be a good friend of Ritsuka's brother, Seimei, who was murdered a 2 years earlier. Upon the inspection of Seimei's abandoned computer files, Ritsuka discovers that an organization called 'Septimal Moon' (Nana no tsuki 七の月) was responsible for Seimei's death.

As Ritsuka quickly discovers, Seimei and Soubi acted as a pair involved in spell battles invoked by carefully selected words. Now Soubi is Ritsuka's 'sentouki', or Fighter Unit, and Ritsuka is his 'Sacrifice'. Together, they challenge Septimal Moon to find out the truth behind Seimei's murder and the reason for Ritsuka's amnesia, and form an intimate bond as they unravel the mystery.

Yugioh! 9/8/14

Some of us will be getting together to play Yugioh on Saturday in Costa by BHS from 5pm. Same as always bring trades and decks that's fine, buy something from costa and no outside food.

Coffee Meet - Accel World 11-8-14

The next Coffee meet will be 11th of August and once again will be in COSTA by BHS, same rules apply, always buy something, noise down to a minimum, clean up after yourself and don't bring in outside food.

We will be reading/watching Accel World

Haruyuki "Haru" Arita is a short, fat boy who is constantly bullied at the Umesato Junior High School which results in him having exceptionally low self-esteem. To escape the torment of real life, he logs onto the school's Local Network where he always plays squash by himself, and his innate skills bring him the attention of Kuroyukihime, the school's popular and attractive female Student Council Vice-President.

After helping him against some bullies, Kuroyukihime introduces Haruyuki to Brain Burst, a secret program that is able to accelerate the human cognitive process to the point at which time appears to stop. Haruyuki soon learns that Brain Burst is more than just a program, but a Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online (VRMMO) Fighting Game where people fight each other in fierce duels in order to obtain Burst Points which can be expended for acceleration abilities in the real world.

Kuroyukihime then enlists Haruyuki's help in reaching Level 10 within Brain Burst by defeating the "Six Kings of Pure Colour" and ultimately meet the creator of Brain Burst to learn its true purpose. With every challenge they face in the Accelerated World, Haru and Kuroyukihime, under their aliases "Silver Crow" and "Black Lotus", gather trusted allies, confront treacherous enemies and their bond grows stronger while working to attain their ultimate objective.

Tokonatsu - The Camping Convention

A few of us from SOS are going to this next weekend and they still have places left if anyone wants to come along. Toko is the best convention I have been too, it's cosplay, camping, games, water fights and dossing around with friends.

Such a chilled out convention.

It's in Milton Keynes but it's easy and cheap to get to if you get the 66 bus to Oxford then the X5 to MK. I think there is even a bus right near the campsite but more travel details can be found on the Toko website.

Ticket prices are £40.00 for the weekend. This will include breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as a BBQ on the Saturday night.

Once you have joined you will be put into a house and every event wins your team points. Some of the best things include Battle Royal with water pistols, Late night DDR, BBQ, a dealers room and bring and buy.

Coffee Meet 3 - Future Diary 28/7/14

We now run coffee anime/manga book club type events where every two weeks we pick an anime/manga and read/watch it to talk about it at the next meeting! We have had two so far and have had good turn outs and great conversation.

This Monday at 5.30pm at Costa by BHS we will be meeting and talking about Mirai Nikki aka Future Diary.

The rules are everyone must clean up after themselves and buy something. No outside food or drink can be brought to this meet.

About Future Diary

Yukiteru Amano, a junior high student, has trouble making friends. He views himself as a spectator from the sidelines and often writes down what he sees in a cell phone diary. Tormented by solitude, Yukiteru interacts with his imaginary friends Deus Ex Machina, the God of Time and Space, and Muru Muru, Deus's servant. One day, Deus grants Yukiteru's cell phone the ability to record the future for the next 90 days. Yukiteru is then forced to participate in a battle royale with eleven other people, each of whom also have a diary that can predict the future in some unique way. The rules of the game are simple: before the world ends on day 90, the contestants must find and kill all the other contestants, and the last one standing will become Deus's successor.

Hello!

I'm terrible and forgot about this blog but I will keep it up to date as not everyone has facebook or wants to see the endless posting of silliness and just wants to know when and where events are. If you don't know what this is.. It's the blog for the Swindon Otaku Society aka SOS and you can find us on facebook.

Sorry for the delays.
